Chevrolet
Z06 X Corvette
During SEMA
2010 Chevrolet has come up with a brilliant racing beast geared
up for the roads. The 2011 Chevrolet Z06 X Concept car is made
for adrenaline pumped guys ready for some action. The Chevrolet
Z06 X is a Corvette which stands alone in its terrain when it
comes to superior technology and capability.
With its
racing inspired power train and suspension features, its svelte
aluminum frame and carbon fiber fenders and floor panels, it achieves
exceptional levels of capability. Not only this, it weighs just
1440 kg and is the lightest, best balanced Corvette to come on
the scene.
The car has
taken an ordinary Chevrolet Z06 concept and equipped it with a
roll cage which is SSCA approved, a racing seat and a harness
and fire suppression system. The car has carbon fiber body panels
which make it significantly lighter and easier to maneuver. It
has been provided with a polycarbonate rear window. The radio
system, carpet and sound deadening material have been removed
in the concept. Of course, this is just a concept but it looks
like the perfect car to stand up to the Dodge Viper ACR-X.
It is hard,
as it is, to find fault with the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Concept,
but the designers have basically come up with a car which takes
the best of both the Z06 and Z07 to come up with a concept that
enables it for a round around the race course.
General Motors
has done an extensive overhauling of its system. A largely improved
cooling system as well as a heavy duty radiator and a low restriction
air intake system have been added.
The suspension
setup has been modified including adjustable stabilizer bars,
mono-ball control arm bushings and coil-over struts. In addition
to that, these struts have adjustable camber plates. The concept
has been given light weight racing wheels and Brembo carbon-ceramic
brake rotors. These car rotors are also part of the Corvette Z07,
but these wheels which have been touched up in a dark shade and
capped with Michelin's racing rubber are exclusive only to the
Z06 Corvette concept.
The black
finish complements Z06's exterior design beautifully. Most body
parts are essentially stock, but General Motors car has been painted
in a white metallic color with a black racing stripe and red fascia,
and some red highlights. The interior of the Z06 X is equipped
with an interior trim and insulation, so that the SCCA roll cage
can be installed.
Though the
car is touted to be the best in terms of race functionality, it
is possible to use it as a daily drivable performance oriented
vehicle. Comfort and convenience have been kept to a very great
standard in the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 X. The standard features
in this car include high or all of its race-inspired functionality.
The Z06 is
designed to be a daily-drivable, high-performance vehicle. To
that end, comfort and convenience are held to a very high standard.
Standard features include high-Intensity discharge lighting, fog
lamps, leather seating, dual-zone air conditioning, cabin air
filtration and head-up display (HUD) with track mode and g-meter.
